The children from the project are carrying out the Literary Night on Saturday, Nov. 6, to raise funds in order to go to Teresopolis at the end of the year. Sarah and some children made the flyer. Everyone is involved and excited.
Helen Granger, the Coordinator of the Assumption Lay Volunteer Programme, is going out to Cristino Castro to meet with Martin. Helen will spend five days visiting the schools and communities where Martin is working. Helen has a long journey ahead of her. On her way out to and from Cristino Castro she will be staying with Dona Maria da Cruz in Teresina, the capital city of the State of Piaui located 650km north of Cristino. Dona Maria is seen here with her grandson Rodrigo, a former volunteer. We will keep you posted on Helen’s journey.
In mid-October we received a new volunteer, Sarah. She came from France and will be with us for a year. She is 21 and graduate in Publicity and Art. She is already helping a lot with her talent! She will also give lessons in basic French for children. They are excited to be able to learn another language. Welcome Sarah!
I want to present another member of our team in the project. Wellington is monitor and has been with us for four years. He enjoys studying and is very dedicated to education. He has a vocation to be a teacher. He is also very lively and loves to play football with the children.

Fabiana is a monitor at the Living & Learning Project. She arrived 3 years ago and does a great job with the children. She is a very caring person and has many fans among children. A resident of Fallet, she often continues to give support to children who live near her. She also helps the volunteers to learn Portuguese. She is a person on whom we really can count!
It was wonderful to see Seamus, Anne and Helen yesterday. They had made their way north from Coventry, through farm yards and narrow country lanes, before eventually arriving at Lee House to find out about our projects in Brazil (the sat-nav took them on the adventurous route – good preparation for the future!). Jo and I discussed the projects and we are very hopeful that Seamus, Anne and Helen will be on the road to Brazil in the near future. Watch this space…
